There are only roughly 939 weeks in eighteen years, and our first of those with Simona is already gone. Though we have not done much outside of the home this week, it has already flown by. She met one set of grandparents, great-grandparents, friends Sam and Sarah, and her “Uncle Brett” and “Aunt Kangaruth” this week, and she also has visited the doctor, taken a sponge bath, starred in home videos, and cheered on Germany and the U.S. in World Cup soccer. Phew!

Thank you to all of you who have called or written to us to check in– we are slowly starting to respond and hope to get back to you soon. We also have added a “pictures” page to our site, so feel free to follow as you please as we obsessively document every event of little Simona’s life.

It’s a girl!!

The day has finally arrived! Simona Lucille Brenneman was born at 8.49 PM on Monday June 12, 2006. Both mother and baby are resting and doing very well (dad is too =).

Just a *little* past February 1

It’s just slightly past February 1, but the website update is now fully underway. The purpose of the website continues to be to keep family, friends, acquaintances, and potential stalkers up-to-date on our lives, though we do not want it to replace actual communication with any of you! (Except maybe those stalkers. . .)

And what’s with the name, “Brightwood Lights,” you might ask? Well, we live in “stepchild” neighborhood of DC- that is, one that has an official designation (”Manor Park”), but which only about six people can properly identify. We are outside of two well-defined neighborhoods, Takoma and Brightwood, by about two or three blocks. But, for simplicity’s sake, we usually claim to live in Brightwood. Such posers, I know.

Anyway, back to the site’s purpose: We also hope that this will satiate the appetite for updates on the newest addition to our family, due to arrive any day now.
